Demand for K-pop experiences has prompted Inside Travel’s cultural adventure specialist InsideAsia to launch a 13-night small-group tour to South Korea with two departure dates in October.
The new Majestic Korea Insider-escorted, small-group tour visits the Korean peninsula, travelling mostly by train, exploring the cities, coast and rural mountain regions, combining history, craft, incredible food and a range of cultural experiences.
The tour travels from the heart of Seoul to the coastal city of Gangneung, before taking the new KTX high-speed train down the east coast to the cultural capital of Gyeongju, on to Korea’s second city of Busan before exploring the rural gateway of Gwangju and its surroundings.
South Korea Product Manager Becky Barry said: “This is our second small group tour after ‘Soul of Korea’ which completely sold out last year. This tour is designed for people who like to stay in comfort but love to explore and experience a new country and culture.”
“The tour has been designed to meet some incredible people in great places and to get a greater understanding of Korean culture that is so popular right now – both the contemporary culture and more traditional culture.
“As well as alternative districts and Insider insight into Seoul, Busan and Gyeongju, we head to some lesser-known places. We eat in a little-known but renowned tofu restaurant and meet its chef in the coastal city of Gangneung.
“The tour also provides exclusive access to a master potter and his studios in rural Sunchang and heads to Yeongam village overlooking the mountains of Wolchulsan National Park, to visit a master-traditional, indigo-dye artist,” Becky added.
Group Tour Manager Richard Farmer said, “We have kept the formula similar to our Japan small group tours with generally a maximum of 14 people travelling, allowing us access to small, exclusive places and using public transport where we can.
“It gives us the opportunity us to get beneath the surface, but that is where the similarity ends. Korea and its culture is fascinating and the experience is different to anywhere else in the world right now – people are proud to share their culture.”
The superior grade Majestic Korea cost s from £7,280 per person and includes 13 nights’ accommodation, all transport across Korea, breakfast every day, select meals, a huge range of cultural experiences and the services of an Insider tour leader.
