Johan Lundgren is to become Chair of TUI AG’s Supervisory Board after current chairman Dr Dieter Zetsche steps down early next year.
Johan, 59, was unanimously backed by TUI’s shareholder and employee representatives at a Supervisory Board meeting this week.
He has been a member of TUI’s board since 2025 and will take up the new position following the company’s Annual General Meeting in February 2027.
Dr Dieter, 73, has chaired the Supervisory Board since May 2019 and he will not stand for re-election when his current term ends at the AGM.
Johan brings four decades of experience in tourism and aviation to the role.
Most recently, he was CEO of easyJet from 2017 until the end of 2024, having previously held senior positions within TUI.
He was also a member of the Executive Board and deputy CEO of TUI Travel and held the same position at TUI AG between 2014 and 2015.
He left the TUI Group in summer 2015 following the merger of TUI AG and TUI Travel.
The Swedish-born executive began his tourism career at Fritidsresor in 1986, now TUI Sweden and part of TUI Nordic.
He has held senior roles across Sweden, Canada, the UK and Germany.
TUI said the early nomination is intended to ensure a smooth transition at the head of the Supervisory Board.
