TUI and Jet2 re-route winter 2026/27 flights to French Alps

TUI and Jet2 have redirected some winter 2026/27 routes away from their original destination of Chambéry Airport, the closest airport to popular French ski resorts such as Val d’Isère and Tignes.

TUI flights from Cardiff and East Midlands airports will land at Lyon Airport instead, as first reported by Aviation Analyst Sean Moulton, while Jet2 flights from Edinburgh and Newcastle are transferring to Geneva, representatives for the operators confirmed to Travel Gossip.

The rest of both the operators’ Chambéry programmes are unaffected. TUI flights from Edinburgh, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Exeter, Bristol, Gatwick and Glasgow airports to Chambéry will continue to operate as planned, as will Jet2 flights from Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Stansted and Gatwick.

Affected TUI customers will be updated directly and offered alternatives, it said, while Jet2 has automatically rebooked its affected passengers onto same-day flights to Geneva, and has added extra capacity to both the Swiss hub and to Grenoble Airport in France.

By road, the journey to Val d’Isère from Chambery is around two hours, while it’s around three-and-a-half hours from Lyon, three hours from Geneva and two hours and 15 minutes from Grenoble. To Tignes, it’s around three hours from Lyon, two hours and 40 minutes from Geneva and two hours from Grenoble.

A TUI spokesperson said: “We are operating our biggest Crystal Ski programme this season and we are operating the full winter programme to the French Alps. As part of our seasonal operational planning, some services that were due to operate via Chambéry have been moved to Lyon for Winter 2026/27.

“Customers affected by these changes will be updated directly and offered suitable alternative options.

“These adjustments ensure we can continue to provide a reliable service while maintaining our full ski programme to the region.

“We remain committed to offering customers a wide range of ski holiday options across the French Alps this winter.”

A Jet2 spokesperson said: “Like other airlines, Jet2 has had to make some changes to its flying programme to Chambery due to slot restrictions introduced at the airport. All impacted customers have been contacted and automatically transferred to an alternative, same-day flight to Geneva. We have also added additional flights to Geneva and Grenoble to provide extra choice.”
