Travel disruption spreads as cold snap causes further delays and cancellations

Thousands more air and rail passengers are facing delays and cancellations today as Europe remains in the grip of wintry weather.

Dutch carrier KLM has grounded a further 600 flights to and from Amsterdam Schiphol, which is struggling to cope with snow and windy conditions.

More than 100 KLM flights to and from the UK have been cancelled, while British Airways and easyJet have been forced to axe multiple flights to and from Amsterdam today.

Paris Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports are also suffering severe disruption today, also due to snow and ice.

The French Civil Aviation Authority has ordered airlines to cancel 40% of flights today.

Air France has cancelled scores of flights, including several services to and from London and UK regional airports.

Other airlines, including BA and easyJet, have also been forced to cancel flights to and from the French capital.

Eurostar has warned of several delays and last-minute cancellations, although most of its trains are running, with only one evening service to Paris and one to Amsterdam cancelled.
