Passengers using Italian airports this Friday (10 April) face disruption after unions representing air traffic control workers called a national strike.
ENAV and Techno Sky ATC staff will walk out from 1pm to 5pm local time, grounding or delaying flights at major airports in Rome, Milan and Naples.
Flights to and from airports including Bari, Catania, Venice and Bergamo are also expected to be disrupted, local media reports.
The strike is also likely to cause knock-on delays and cancellations beyond the official end time.
Mediation talks are due to take place today (8 April) to try to avoid strike action.
If the strike does go ahead, national civil aviation authority ENAC is expected to publish a list of guaranteed flights nearer the time.
