The Spanish Tourist Office has appointed José Manuel de Juan González as its new UK Director, with Isabel Alonso de Piñar becoming Deputy Director.
The pair take up their roles at Turespaña this month, succeeding Manuel Butler and Pedro Medina respectively.
José Manuel returns to an overseas leadership role after working at the organisation’s Madrid headquarters.
His most recent role was Deputy Director-General for Economic and Administrative Management and Information Technologies, overseeing finance and human resources.
He has previously headed the organisation’s offices in New York, Toronto, Dublin, Miami and Oslo, and established its Ireland office in 2006.
José Manuel said the UK is ‘Spain’s number one overseas market’ and plans to pursue a ‘more responsible and rewarding tourism model’ over the next five years.
He added: “I’m delighted to join the Spanish Tourist Office in the UK and look forward to working with the UK travel industry on a whole host of projects and opportunities that celebrate the close relationship shared between our two nations, while placing a particular focus on fostering a more equitable and inclusive form of tourism.”
Isabel was previously Turespaña’s Deputy Director for Overseas Marketing, and played a central role in its 2025 global campaign, ‘Think you Know Spain? Think Again….’
She said: “It’s fantastic to join the London team at Turespaña and to support José Manuel representing Spain in the UK market. This year’s WTM will be a great opportunity to meet with our many UK tour operator and travel agency partners.”
World Travel Market (WTM) will take place 3-5 November at ExCeL London.
