Malaysia Airlines is laying on two extra return flights between London and Kuala Lumpur over the weekend to help bring home travellers stranded by the temporary partial closure of air space in the Middle East.
The carrier released details of the additional flights, which will operate on Saturday and Sunday, as the Foreign Office warned of the risk of travel disruption extending well beyond the Middle East.
On Friday it issued warnings to travellers to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Laos and countries in the South Pacific of the possibility of delays and cancelled flights.
It said: “Escalation in the Middle East has caused widespread travel disruption, including airspace closures, delayed and cancelled flights.
“Your travel plans may be affected, even if your destination is not in the Middle East.”
Malaysia is adding an extra flight from KL to Heathrow, on Saturday, departing at 10am. The flight will return to KL at 5.40pm. An extra flight will leave KL for London at 11.15am on Sunday, and return to KL at 8.30pm.
The airline operated an additional return flight from KL to Paris on Friday.
