MSC World Asia completes sea trials ahead of December maiden voyage

MSC Cruises’ latest flagship, MSC World Asia, has successfully completed her final sea trials ahead of her maiden voyage in December.

After initial sea trials in July, the final sea trials took place this week in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of France to test the ship’s engines, manoeuvrability, fuel efficiency, safety systems, speed, and stopping distances.

MSC World Asia will now receive her final finishing touches at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, before being officially delivered to MSC Cruises on 25 November. MSC World Asia will be officially named on 28 November in Le Havre, France.

The ship will feature 40 restaurants, bars and lounges, new entertainment venues and family attractions, plus ‘The Spiral @ Tree of Life’, the longest dry slide at sea at 81.3 metres, spanning 12 decks.

Seven-night itineraries along the Mediterranean will be offered, calling at destinations including Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia (Rome), Messina and Valletta, with accessible embarkation available in every port.

Guests will embark on their first voyage on 4 December, when MSC World Asia departs Barcelona on the inaugural seven-night sailing.
