AmaWaterways has opened bookings for its 2028 river cruise programme, which will include four new ships across Europe and Africa.
The new fleet additions include AmaMaria, which will sail on the Rhine, and AmaGaia, which will join the Douro fleet in Portugal alongside a further new ship.
A fourth ship will join the operator’s African fleet on the Chobe River, expanding its existing operation with the Zambezi Queen.
AmaMaria will have 76 staterooms and feature the design introduced on sister ship AmaFiora, which is due to debut in April 2027.
The expanded Douro fleet will have sailings extending into November and December.
The 2028 programme also includes new land extensions and itineraries, including a 10 and 11-night ‘Elegance of Burgundy & Provence’ cruise aboard AmaCello in July and August.
New land packages include a three-night Krakow extension and a two-night Nuremberg extension. Other new extensions will be available in Brussels, Lyon, Aix-en-Provence, Dijon, Porto, Basel and Luxembourg.
Prices start from £1,856 per person for a seven-night ‘Captivating Rhine’ cruise from Amsterdam to Basel, departing on 20 January 2028 for bookings made by 31 December this year. The price includes return flights from London or Manchester, overseas transfers and a £950 early-bird saving.
CEO Catherine Powell said: “We’re always looking ahead and thinking about how we can continue to evolve the AmaWaterways experience and bring our guests closer to the destinations they visit.
“Our 2028 journeys reflects that vision, with new ways to explore, discover and connect, both on board and on shore. We’re excited about what’s to come and the opportunities it creates for our guests to experience the world with us in new and meaningful ways.
“River cruising is the perfect way to bring our guests right into the heart of a destination,” added Powell. “We want to give travellers time in the places they visit, and the freedom to wander a little further, discover a neighbourhood or simply get a feel for what it’s like to be there.”
