Cape Town Tourism has announced plans to roll out an AI-powered trip planner.
Agents and customers will be able to input dates, the desired travel style and number of travellers and the free-to-use trip planner will create a bespoke itinerary.
Chief Marketing Officer Briony Brookes told Travel Gossip at a London event to unveil the free-to-use trip planner that it will be available on the tourism agency’s website from January.
A second phase of the trip planner, which will include the ability to book flights and accommodation, is slated for next summer, she added.
Briony said the AI software has been developed with Cape Town Tourism’s local expertise, offering more tailored and authentic itineraries than other AI platforms, such as ChatGPT.
The itineraries will also feature recommendations, from restaurants to excursions, beyond the obvious tourist attractions, she added.
