Intrepid Travel has introduced two new Indigenous-led tourism experiences in Canada.
Nine of its Canadian itineraries now feature Indigenous-led experiences, giving travellers the opportunity to learn about Indigenous culture while supporting local communities and businesses.
Research commissioned by Intrepid among more than 8,000 travellers worldwide found strong demand for Indigenous tourism experiences, particularly among UK travellers. According to the survey, 77% of British travellers said they would consider taking time to experience local Indigenous culture and support Indigenous businesses while travelling, compared with 74% globally.
One of the new experiences has been developed through a partnership with Indigenous-owned tourism company Talaysay Tours in British Columbia.
The collaboration has created a new ‘We Are the Land’ experience in Whistler, which has been added to Intrepid’s Grand Canadian Rockies itinerary. The experience focuses on place-based learning, cultural ecology, stewardship and storytelling.
Intrepid has also added a Huron-Wendat cultural experience in Wendake, near Quebec City, to its Eastern Canada by Rail itinerary. The experience includes a guided visit to a traditional Huron-Wendat longhouse and museum at the Huron Traditional Site.
The additions form part of Intrepid’s £265,000 five-year commitment to support the growth and promotion of Indigenous tourism in Canada through its partnership with the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada.
The company aims to include an Indigenous-led experience on every Canadian itinerary by the end of 2031.

“I’m honoured to share these teachings through Talaysay Tours and, together with Intrepid Travel, introduce We Are The Land in Sḵwiḵw. Through this experience, travellers will walk the land with us, discover Indigenous knowledge and learn about the living relationships that have connected our people to these mountains since time immemorial.”
Intrepid operates 12 tours in Canada, ranging from seven to 15 days, and said it expects to offer more than 100 Indigenous community experiences globally during 2026 as part of its commitment to community-led tourism.
