Wizz Air UK to launch charter flights to US for FIFA World Cup

Wizz Air UK has been given the go-ahead from the UK and US authorities to operate charter flights to the US during this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

The low-cost airline said it will talk to tour operators, corporate groups and sports organisations looking to offer charter packages for the tournament, which takes place between 11 June and 19 July.

Matches will be played in 11 host cities in the US, and two in Canada and three in Mexico, making the World Cup 2026 the first tri-nation competition.

Wizz Air UK Managing Director Yvonne Moynihan said. “Receiving approval to operate between the UK and the US is a huge milestone for our company.

“It opens the door to incredible opportunities, particularly for European football teams and supporters travelling across the Atlantic this summer. We are ready to deliver exceptional charter experiences and bring fans closer to the action in the US.”

A Wizz Air spokesperson told Travel Gossip that the airline will share more details about the flights later.
