Tourism Minister to attend WTM London

New Tourism Minister Stephanie Peacock will attend the opening day of World Travel Market (WTM) London.

The MP for Barnsley South, who took on the tourism brief last month following a reshuffle, will attend events throughout the day, on 4 November.

She will join the official opening ceremony at 9am, then take part in the UN Ministers Summit, hosted by WTM in association with UN Tourism and WTTC, where she will deliver the opening address.

The summit, now in its 19th year, is the world’s largest gathering of tourism ministers, aides and advisors, with selected representatives from the private sector also in attendance.

At 2pm, Stephanie will host a closed roundtable where ministers from across the EU will discuss sustainable tourism.

After that, she will take part in a panel discussion entitled Soft Power Advantage: Leveraging the UK’s Global Influence’, at 3pm in the Yellow Theatre.

In the evening, she will join attendees from the Ministers Summit at the Ministerial Reception, a networking evening dinner taking place in the Churchill War Rooms in central London.

Event Director Chris Carter-Chapman said: “We’re delighted to welcome the new Tourism Minister, and we are proud that she has earmarked time in her schedule to visit WTM London.

“We look forward to discussing the importance of inbound, outbound and domestic tourism, introducing her to some of the major players and highlighting the major role that WTM plays in supporting the UK tourism sector.”

Also at WTM will be the previous Tourism Minister, Sir Chris Bryant, who was in the role for just over a year before becoming Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade in the reshuffle.

He will be at the event on Thursday 6 November, and will host the closing keynote interview with actor and writer Richard E Grant at 3:30pm on the Yellow Stage.

Chris Carter-Chapman added: “We were talking to Sir Chris before his move to trade. It’s a positive sign that he’s still interested in tourism and the role that it plays as part of the UK’s overall balance of trade.”

WTM London 2025 takes place at Excel from 4-6 November.
