Ryanair has announced it is extending four summer routes from London Stansted into winter, while also revealing a clampdown on oversized cabin bags.
For winter 25/26, Ryanair will operate four weekly flights between Stansted and Murcia in Spain, twice-weekly flights to Trapani in Italy and three flights a week to the German cities of Lübeck and Münster.
The airline also officially announced the launch of a London Luton to Wroclaw service, as previously reported by Travel Gossip in June.
At the same time, the airline will increase the incentive it pays ground staff to spot any passengers with carry-on bags that are larger than its free allowance. The incentive, which currently stands at €1.50 (£1.29) per bag spotted, is set to rise to €2.50 (£2.16), ‘probably’ from November, according to the airline’s Chief Executive Michael O’Leary.
Also, the payment limit of €80 a month for each staff member is being removed. “99.9 per cent of Ryanair passengers comply with the bag rules, no issues. That 0.1 per cent, we need to get rid of them. We need to get rid of those big bags. Everybody has to play by the rules, and then there’ll be no issues, but we are going to continue to catch more people,” Michael told The Independent.
Ryanair has recently increased its free bag dimensions to 40x30x20 cms. Passengers stopped from boarding with larger bags are charged £20 to £60 to place them in the hold.
