Pay dispute threatens disruption for disabled passengers at Stansted

A union representing workers who assist disabled passengers on and off aircraft at London Stansted airport is threatening a strike from the middle of next month.

Unite is balloting its members on industrial action in a pay dispute with their employer, ABM.

The union claims the 100-plus workers are paid below the London Living Wage of £14.80 an hour.

“Should strikes go ahead, this will cause substantial flight disruption as additional time will be needed to board the passengers who rely on this service,” Unite said in a statement.

The strike ballot closes on 1 April and, if members vote for industrial action, ABM will be given two weeks’ notice.
