Jetline Holidays to provide update ‘shortly’, after cruise lines cancel bookings

One of the Directors of Jetline Holidays has made a comment to Travel Gossip hours after it was revealed that some Carnival group cruise lines have cancelled all future bookings with the travel agency.

Carnival blamed a ‘breach of contract’ for what it described as a ‘difficult’ decision to cancel bookings made by the north London-based agency with Cunard, Princess and Holland America Line.

All other bookings, including with P&O Cruises, will be transferred to direct bookings, it said.

“We recognise how disappointing this news will be for affected guests and express our sincere apologies for the disruption caused. This decision was not made lightly,” it said.

“Customers with affected bookings are advised to contact Jetline Holidays directly at 0203 617 5908. For those wishing to rebook their cruise, our teams are available to assist with alternative arrangements.”

Jetline Holidays Director Steven Roberts told Travel Gossip  the company is ‘trying to deal with various issues’. He said he was unable to comment further but added: “Hopefully we will have an update on what is going on very shortly. As soon as we have something, we will put it out there.”

He declined to state whether the company is still trading.

There was no answer on the company’s main reservation number – the same as the one provided by Carnival in its statement –  when Travel Gossip attempted to contact them on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

The Jetline group has multiple trading names and associated websites including Clearsky Holidays, Deal of the Day Holidays, Elegant Getaways and Green Dot Holidays, as well as Jetline Holidays and Jetline Cruises.

It has an ATOL licence for 4,700 passengers.

The company is no longer an ABTA member, having left in November 2020 after the Association launched an investigation into its refund policy during COVID. It is a member of Advantage, whose spokesperson said only that it is ‘currently awaiting an update from the member’.

Earlier this week, customers began posting about issues with Jetline Holidays on the review site, Trustpilot.

One wrote that they’d just found out their cruise due to depart in four days had been cancelled. They added: “It was only when we called Cunard to find out our cabin number that it all came to light, we can not get hold of anyone and have spent all day calling every number we find but no answer, we have been left in the lurch thank god we were insured.”

Another wrote: “We’ve just had notification from Cunard that our cruise booking via Jetline has been cancelled due to a breach of contract with this agency. I am unable to contact this company via any of their phone numbers. And emails get an auto response. We were due to set sail in 3 days time and are now unable to get any information on what is happening with our family holiday. So if anyone from Jetline reads this – please respond!!!”
