FCDO warns of travel disruption in Belgium due to strike action

The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) has warned travellers to Belgium to expect severe disruption across public transport services from Sunday.

Train strikes are expected from 10pm on Sunday 8 March to until the end of Thursday 12 March, with a general strike set to take place on 12 March.

The FCDO said ‘international flights are likely to be heavily affected, with potential cancellations at short notice. It is urging travellers to ‘consult the SNCB’s Journey Planner before any railway travel in Belgium during this period and always check with your travel operator for the latest updates.’

The update said: “Strike action is an ongoing issue that can cause travel disruption. General strikes took place on 31 March, 29 April,14 October, 26 November and 15 December 2025. Strike action may be announced at short notice.”
