EasyJet Manchester-bound flight diverted after passenger made bomb threat

An easyJet flight from Dalaman in Turkey to Manchester was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Frankfurt after a disruptive passenger reportedly attempted to open an emergency exit.

A witness told Manchester Evening News how a woman reportedly screamed that there was a bomb on board the flight before grabbing an emergency exit door and reaching for life jackets. She was then reportedly ‘wrestled away’ to the back of the plane.

An easyJet spokesperson said: “Flight EZY2148 from Dalaman to Manchester on 24 May diverted to Frankfurt due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard.

“EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard. The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority.”

The flight later continued to Manchester, where it landed safely.
