Carnival UK confirms there will be redundancies

Carnival UK is cutting jobs across its P&O Cruises and Cunard brands three months after announcing a company-wide restructure, which will take effect from 1 November.

Redundancies are expected to hit a ‘single-digit percentage’ of the workforce, although the precise number of roles affected is still under review, a spokesperson told Travel Gossip.

A spokesperson said: “In June, Carnival UK announced organisational changes to support operational efficiency and future growth across P&O Cruises and Cunard.

“Exact numbers are still being finalised but it is anticipated that there will be a reduction in headcount of a single-digit percentage.”

Carnival UK announced the creation of cross-company teams, as well as leadership changes, at the two cruise lines in June.

Paul Ludlow was promoted to Cunard President, adding to his existing titles of Carnival UK and P&O Cruises President, while Kate McAlister moved from Cunard President to the newly created role of Carnival UK Chief Commerce Officer.

Both Stuart Allison and Chris Lees remained as Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Experience Officer respectively, but had their remit expanded across P&O Cruises and Cunard.

At the time, Paul said the ‘proactive’ changes would set up Carnival UK for ‘operational excellence and resilience.’
