Terra Nova Expeditions has secured a replacement vessel for its upcoming Antarctic programme after its original ship was unable to reposition from the Persian Gulf.
Terra Nova Adventurer, formerly MS Expedition and G Expedition, will operate the company’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 Antarctic seasons, replacing St Helena.
St Helena cannot safely and timely reposition from the Persian Gulf ahead of the 2026/27 season due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
The polar expedition vessel has operated before in Antarctica, the Arctic and other remote waters. It has enhanced ice capability, a large expedition mudroom and direct Zodiac boarding arrangements.
Ahead of its first season with Terra Nova, the ship will undergo an onboard refresh including new furnishings and decor, remodelled bar and lounge areas, and a new Jacuzzi and sauna on Deck 5.
The ship also has observation areas, a lounge, library, spa and gym.
Terra Nova said its Antarctic itineraries will continue as planned, with guests whose bookings are affected by the vessel change being contacted directly.
The company’s expedition programme will continue to include activities such as kayaking, snowshoeing and photography workshops.
Terra Nova Adventurer will enter service during the 2026/27 Antarctic season and remain with the company for at least three Antarctic seasons, the operator said.
