Managing Director Anwar Sohawon has left Travel Gossip following 18 months in the role.
He joined as Sales Director in 2023 and during his three and a half years with the business it grew from seven people to nineteen and significantly expanded its events, awards and training portfolio,
Founder and CEO Bruce Martin will step back into closer day-to-day leadership of Travel Gossip, working alongside the senior leadership team. He has confirmed the company will not replace the Managing Director role.
“Anwar has been a big part of Travel Gossip’s growth over the last three and a half years, and particularly on the commercial and sales side, he brought real drive and ambition to the business,” said Bruce.
“He leaves with our genuine thanks and our best wishes for whatever he does next. Travel Gossip is a strong, well-run business with a brilliant group of employees, and I’m excited about where we take it from here.”
Anwar said: “After an incredible three and a half years at Travel Gossip, it’s time for me to close one chapter and start an exciting new one.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved during my time at Travel Gossip. We launched new and engaging products, including the industry’s first regional Travel Agent Awards, Bootcamps, online training and a dedicated brand for luxury and experiential travel, Indulge.
“We also acquired two fantastic event businesses, alongside many other milestones that have helped shape Travel Gossip into the business it is today.
“One of the things I’m particularly proud of is seeing Travel Gossip mature as a business. I’ve been fortunate to work with such a fantastic, dedicated and passionate team.
“This year has been about putting the people and systems in place for a bright future for Travel Gossip. I leave knowing the business is in a great place, with a brilliant team behind it, and I’m genuinely excited to watch its continued success.
“And, of course, a big thank you goes to Bruce Martin for the opportunity and for the unwavering belief and support he’s given me throughout. It’s been an absolute pleasure.”
Separately, Travel Gossip is recruiting for an interim Sales Director to provide maternity cover for Sales Director Jessica Simpson, who begins her maternity leave at the end of the year.
