Jet2 and Jet2holidays take off from Luton

Jet2’s first ever flights and holidays take off this morning from Luton, its 13th UK base.

The inaugural flight was to Majorca, which departed a little behind schedule at 8.39am today, and the second will be to Tenerife at 10.15, followed by a flight to Antalya this afternoon.

This is the second airport base that Jet2 has launched this year, following Bournemouth in February.

Customers jetting off from Luton today received a red carpet welcome at check-in and personalised gifts.

The very first customers to check in were also surprised with free flight vouchers, and as customers waited to board the first flight, a Spanish guitarist entertained them at a launch event.

In addition, one customer received a seven-night Jet2holiday to the Liberty Signa in Turkey, personally awarded to them by CEO Steve Heapy.

Jet2 and Jet2holidays will operate up to 36 weekly flights from Luton to 17 destinations across the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Mainland Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Madeira this summer.

Two routes, Girona and Verona, are exclusive to Jet2 from Luton.

In total, it is offering 430,000 seats from the London airport, where it has based two new Airbus A321neo aircraft.

In winter 2025/26, Jet2 will operate to eight sun destinations from Luton, including Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Alicante, Antalya, Faro and Madeira, offering more than 140,000 seats on up to 19 flights a week.
