Munich Airport International (MAI) has been named as the operating partner for Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
MAI will work alongside FlyDoncaster, the company set up by City of Doncaster Council to run the airport.
The council said: “Germany-based Munich Airport International GmbH (MAI) will provide operational and management services to FlyDoncaster, the airport’s operator – a wholly owned City of Doncaster Council (CDC) company – along with FP Airports Ltd, aviation sector specialists in the UK, to progress the airport’s reopening.”
Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones said the appointment was the ‘next significant step’ to reopening DSA, which closed in November 2022.
Mayor Jones said: “Munich Airport International is one of Europe’s most successful operators, running four international airports around the world.
“Together we will work at pace to get our airport open in the spring of 2026.”
She added: “My number one ambition is to reopen the airport and we are well on the way to doing that. I’ll update you on our progress but for now, let’s celebrate this major milestone and thanks to everyone for their support to getting us where we are today.”
