The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) has updated its advice for Italy ahead of a strike planned for next Friday (30 October).
It warned the nationwide strike is expected to impact transportation, advising UK tourists to check with their travel providers for the latest information.
The FCDO also said that recent protests across northern Italian cities had led to violent riots and looting, with an increased presence of police and military personnel in Milan.
It added further demonstrations might take place in major cities.
Earlier this week, overnight curfews were imposed in several French cities and towns, including Paris, after protests over the cost of living turned violent.
