Fans go wild as Jane Boulton announces return to easyJet

Fans of former easyJet troubleshooter Jane Boulton have begged the star to come back for real after she posted an April Fool’s Day message to say she is returning to the airline.

In a short video on Instagram, Jane, wearing orange and standing at an easyJet check-in desk, announced: “I’m back! Would you bl**dy believe it? Everyone’s here, old memories are here, my girls are here and I think we’re going to get up to some mischief.”

Easyjet also shared the post, saying: “We are SO excited to announce that @janeboulton_airline is back with us at easyJet.

“Keep an eye out for her when you’re next flying, just make sure you’re not late!”

Jane (pictured, below on the right), along with colleague Katrina Batham (below, left) and others became household names during the ITV fly-on-the-wall documentary Airline, which showcased the work-life of staff at airlines including easyJet. The series ran from 1998 to 2006.

After seeing yesterday’s post, fans commented to welcome Jane back, with one describing her as an ‘absolutely iconic woman’, one calling her a ‘superstar’, another saying: “She really is the face of that airline,” and another saying: “We need Jane back.”

Some fans realised she’d posted on April Fool’s Day, but others weren’t sure whether the post was genuine or not.

Others said: “I just want to believe this is true,” and: “If it weren’t April Fool’s Day, it’ll be believable.”

Another said: “We LOVE Jane, the one and only QUEEN of easyJet OG*.”

After leaving easyJet, Jane worked for Hertfordshire County Council and set up her own cake-making business. She became a social media sensation in 2023, with clips of her no-nonsense style hitting 26 million views on TikTok bringing a whole new generation of fans.

A year before, Resfeber Travel Director Arron Mitchell launched his own campaign to get Jane to come back and sort out problems at Gatwick, using the hashtag #whereisjaneboulton?

He said at the time an experience of a cancelled easyJet flight made him yearn for the days when Jane and her colleagues were still around.

Shortly after, TV and radio star Rylan added his voice to those agents who called for the return of Jane. Rylan tweeted: “You know who would sort out this airline crisis in literally an hour…” followed by a photo of Jane and her TV crack squad.

Jane replied to say she would love to return to Gatwick and told Travel Gossip it would be ‘amazing’ to go back.

Replying to his tweet, one of Rylan’s followers said: “Jane’s eye rolls were the best, no messing with her.”

*According to Google, ‘OG’ is a slang abbreviation for ‘original gangster’ or ‘original gangsta’, used to describe someone who is exceptionally authentic, old-school, or an expert at something.
