EasyJet has axed plans to launch flights between Liverpool and Paphos in Cyprus this August.
The flights, which were due to operate twice a week from 2 August, are no longer available to book.
An easyJet spokesperson said: “While we are no longer operating [Paphos] from Liverpool, we are continuing to fly from Manchester and so most customers will move onto that route if it works for them and we also continue to operate our other routes to Cyprus from the UK.”
Instead of adding a flight to Paphos from Liverpool, EasyJet will offer a new twice-weekly service to Seville, starting on 2 August.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport Aviation Director Paul Winfield said: “We are delighted to welcome another fantastic easyJet route to Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Seville is a stunning cultural destination with strong demand for both outbound leisure travel and inbound tourism.
“EasyJet’s continued growth here at the north-west’s Faster, Easier, Friendlier Airport demonstrates the strength of the Liverpool market, and we anticipate this new Seville service will be very popular with travellers across the region.”
EasyJet UK Country Manager Kevin Doyle added: “We’re excited to be adding Seville to our growing network from Liverpool for next summer.
“Our short-haul network from Liverpool offers unrivalled choice for those planning their holidays, to book and fly with ease.”
EasyJet is going ahead with plans to add another aircraft to its base at the airport later this year, said Kevin, taking their Liverpool fleet to nine.
The airline is also launching a new flight from London Gatwick to Newquay, starting on 23 June. It will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Meanwhile, Jet2 is ending its service between Belfast and Funchal in Madeira, according to a post on X by aviation analyst Sean Moulton.
The route, which started in November 2024 will end on 27 April, according to the post.
Jet2, which launched its first flights from Gatwick on Thursday, has also axed plans for a new weekly flight to La Palma in the Canary Islands, according to Sean.
The seasonal winter service was due to start on 24 October.
