EasyJet holidays has said it will run a ‘dedicated multi-channel campaign to promote lesser-known destinations’ in 2025, as part of its commitment to providing more sustainable holidays.
The operator made the pledge in its first Impact Report, which outlines its aim of offering ‘brilliant holidays at unbeatable prices’, while making sustainable holidays mainstream through its environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, ‘Holiday Better’.
The Impact Report – easyJet holidays’ first – outlines its achievements in 2024, as well as looking ahead to what it intends to build on this year.
The report doesn’t give any more detail on the multi-channel campaign, but said easyJet holidays plans to ‘increase the number of customers going to like-for-like lesser known destinations such as Akureyri vs Reykjavik’.
The operator launched holidays to Akureyri in the north of Iceland last year.
Other sustainable goals highlighted in the report include a commitment to net zero, expanding its certified sustainable range, developing destination focused sustainability projects, and championing responsible tourism through certification, education and industry partnerships.
Another initiative easyJet holidays plans to expand this year is the use of electric vehicles in resort. In 2023, it launched its first electric vehicle for airport transfers, in Rhodes, using renewable energy and solar power to recharge.
In 2024, it expanded to three electric vehicles in Rhodes, transferring more than 5,250 of our customers a distance of over 152,000km. The operator calculates it made a petrol saving equivalent to 27 tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent).
Chief Operating Officer Matt Callaghan said: “Our first Impact Report marks a significant milestone for us on our journey to support our customers to Holiday Better, and whilst we’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, in collaboration with our partners, it’s clear that now is the time to deliver progress in order to meet both short and long term targets, and that’s why we believe in the need for pace over perfection.
“We’re focusing on solutions and partnerships to make our holidays more sustainable, and we’re using rapid implementation to trial projects and share our results with the industry.”
