Hays Travel owner Dame Irene Hays and Trailfinders founder Sir Mike Gooley have risen up the Sunday Times Rich List after significantly increasing their wealth over the past year.
According to the newspaper, Dame Irene and family, who made it onto the Rich List for the first time last year in joint 324th place, are now the 250th wealthiest in the UK.
They increased their fortune by £191 million this year to £591m, according to the publication.
Sir Mike Gooley, who was also in 324th place last year, has leapt to 230th place after increasing his wealth by £279 million to £679 million.
Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, is the wealthiest travel tycoon, having amassed a fortune of £2.4 billion, putting him in 72th place on the Rich List, up from 74th, while easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and family have £1.7bn.
Other travel billionaires include Peter Harris and family of Bourne Leisure, Surindar Arora and family of Arora Hotels, Stefan Olsen of Stena Line and Sir Rocco Forte and Olga Polizzi and family of Rocco Forte Hotels.
Jet2 founder Philip Meeson is worth £626m, according to the Rich List, which also includes Sir Roger and Peter De Haan of Saga, Tim and Kit Kemp of Firmdale Hotels, Nigel Spokes and family of Thrifty, Kuljinder Bahia and family of Southall Travel, Alex Langsam of Britannia Hotels and Pontins, and Peter Stephens and family of the Lotus Group, which owns Dialaflight and other travel brands.
