Disney Cruise Line to launch new class of ships

Disney Cruise Line has unveiled the first details of an new class of ships that will join the fleet from 2029.

The cruise line announced at last weekend’s Disney’s D23 fan event that three ships in a brand-new class will enter service in 2029, 2030 and 2031 as part of plans to expand the fleet to 13.

They will be smaller than the line’s 4,000-capacity Wish-class ships but larger than its original Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ships, creating opportunities for new itineraries and destinations.

The new ships are expected to carry around 3,000 passengers.

Specific details of the ships’ design, names and onboard attractions have not been revealed, but Disney said the new class would introduce fresh experiences and storytelling concepts.

Disney Cruise Line also revealed further details of Disney Believe, which is scheduled to enter service in late 2027 as the fourth and final ship in the Wish class.

Disney Believe will feature a Moana-themed Grand Hall and entertainment inspired by Disney favourites including Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana and The Little Mermaid. The ship’s exterior will have Woody and Buzz Lightyear on the stern and Tinker Bell on the bow.
