Nepal-based Community Homestay Network is offering agents and operators the opportunity to apply for one of two fam trips this year as it looks to expand its sales through the trade.
The trips will be global fams taking place in May and August/September, with a minimum of three spots available for UK agents. Transfers will be included, but not flights.
The social enterprise offers community-led homestays and cultural experiences in lesser-known parts of Nepal.
Founder Shiva Dhakal said: “There is work to do with both agents and operators in terms of enhancing and changing perceptions of both Nepal and the experiences Community Homestay Network offers travellers. Staying with us means seeing a completely different side to the country, beyond trekking and climbing, in a way that supports and empowers local people, particularly women, in lesser-known parts of Nepal.”
The two fam trips are:
10-19 May
Stories from our Himalayas: a 10-day journey taking in Kathmandu, Pokhara, the Magar village of Narchyang and Mustang, with hiking, hot springs and a homestay cooking workshop.
25 August-1 September
Valley of Festivals: an eight-day trip across the Kathmandu Valley, timed to coincide with festivals including Gunlā, Janai Purnima and Gai Jatra, with momo-making, Paubha painting and temple visits.
