Two former P&O Cruises Australia ships have officially joined the Carnival Cruise Line fleet.
The ships previously sailed as Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter with P&O Cruises Australia, which closed down last month, and have now been renamed Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter.
Following a two-week renovation and celebration events, both ships set off on their maiden cruises. Carnival Adventure sailed from Sydney, while Carnival Encounter departed from Brisbane.
The rebranded ships continue to feature elements of P&O Cruises Australia, including Byron Beach Club; Edge Adventure Park; and Luke Mangan’s speciality restaurant Luke’s Bar & Grill.
Both ships will sail itineraries around Australia and Carnival says it expects more than 500,000 guests to sail from its Australian homeports this year.
President Christine Duffy said: “Our expansion in Australia demonstrates incredible enthusiasm for our brand and we’re grateful to our loyal guests who continue to drive our ongoing growth, solidifying Carnival as the world’s most popular cruise line. Doubling the fun in our Australia homeports enables us to deliver more sailing options, offer more variety and deepen our partnerships in the Sydney and Brisbane communities.”
