Explore Worldwide has launched a new collection of eclipse-focused tours for 2027, following strong demand for its previous departures, which sold out within weeks.
The new programme is centred around the total solar eclipse taking place on 2 August, which will pass across southern Spain and North Africa and include some of the longest periods of totality seen since 1991.
The adventure travel operator has introduced upgraded itineraries across Andalucia, Gibraltar and Morocco, as well as a brand-new ‘Wonders of Ancient Algeria’ eclipse tour, designed to combine prime viewing positions with immersive cultural experiences.
Explore said its earlier eclipse departures were fully booked less than three months after launch, reflecting growing demand for astrotourism experiences.
Managing Director Michael Edwards said “The 2027 total solar eclipse is set to be one of the most remarkable celestial events of our lifetime, and we know from the speed at which our previous eclipse tours sold out that travellers are already planning ahead.
“At Explore, we don’t just take customers to see the eclipse, we build the whole adventure around it. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly extraordinary.”
The new Explore itineraries include three key departures built around the solar eclipse. Prices exclude flights.
The ‘Highlights of Andalucía and Gibraltar: Eclipse Upgraded’ itinerary takes in southern Spain and Gibraltar before viewing the eclipse from Cadiz, with highlights including sherry tastings in Jerez and visits to Setenil de las Bodegas. The upgraded itinerary features two nights at the Occidental Cadiz near Victoria Beach, along with a stay at the Parador de Arcos de la Frontera, which is set on a limestone cliff. The tour departs on 31 July, with prices from £3,495 per person.
The ‘Andalucian Highlights and Morocco Eclipse’ tour combines southern Spain and Morocco, with eclipse viewing from Tangier accompanied by an expert astronomer, and visits including the Caminito del Rey and Tangier medina. Upgraded stays include the Movenpick Hotel Casablanca Tangier and the Soho Boutique Palacio San Gabriel, an 18th-century palace in Ronda, with the tour departing on 27 July and priced from £3,495pp.
The ‘Wonders of Ancient Algeria Eclipse Tour’ is a 10-day itinerary exploring Algiers, Tipaza, Timgad, Djemila and Annaba, with more than five minutes of totality expected in northern Algeria. Prices start from £2,895pp.
