Explora Journeys unveils third ship as fleet reaches midway point

Luxury cruise line Explora Journeys has increased the luxury offering onboard its third ship, EXPLORA III, which will include more top-end cabins when it joins the fleet in 2026.

The cruise line’s first LNG-powered ship, EXPLORA III will have a total of 463 Ocean Suites, slightly more than on its two sister ships. This will include 109 Ocean Penthouses, which account for almost one in four of its cabins, and Ocean Residences, which will account for 9% of the total.

There will also be an additional (second) Owner’s Residence on Deck 7, as well as redefined Cove Residences, where guests can select their own suite configuration.

Explora Journeys President Anna Nash said: With EXPLORA III, we are thrilled to reach the halfway point in the launch of our fleet of six luxury ships, each designed to redefine the standards of ocean travel.”

The new ship will spend its inaugural summer season in 2026 sailing through western Europe before heading to northern Europe, starting in Southampton on 17 August and travelling to the Netherlands, Norway, Estonia, Sweden, and Germany, before making its way to Iceland and Greenland.

In the winter of 2026, the ship will reposition to Miami for a programme of Caribbean cruises. Anna added: “By expanding our fleet, we are able to offer a greater variety of itineraries, immersing travellers in diverse cultures, landscapes, and unique moments across the globe.”

Explora said its newest ship will have one of the highest ratios of total public space per guest – 18.7 sqm –  as well as expanded outdoor public spaces.

Its signature dining concepts return, and the Ocean Wellness and Fitness area has been reimagined to include a spa alongside a ‘state-of-the-art’ gym, open-air fitness area and extended outdoor running track. An expanded sports court will offers Pickleball, Padel, and basketball.

For children, the Nautilus Club has been improved with dedicated spaces and experiences for little ones and teens, and there is baby care provided plus kids clubs for children from three to 17.
