Wizz Air is launching eight new routes from London Luton Airport to destinations in Austria, Italy and Spain.
The expansion comes after the airline announced it was pulling out of Abu Dhabi to focus on growth in Europe.
From 26 October, the airline will offer a daily service to Vienna and 11 flights a week to Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino from Luton.
From 29 March 2026, it will operate five new routes from Luton to Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and Seville.
The Madrid service will operate daily; there will be 10 flights per week to Barcelona; five per week to Bilbao and Valencia; and four a week to Seville.
The new routes were announced after Wizz Air revealed it made an operating profit in the first quarter, to the end of June, of €27 million, which was down 38.3% year on year.
During the period, 41 of the airline’s aircraft were grounded due to engine inspections. The affected aircraft are not expected to return to service until March 2027, one year later than initially planned.
