Well-known travel face appears on Escape to the Country

Popular travel industry figure Andrew Hiller has appeared on the BBC show Escape to the Country alongside his partner, Michael.

Andrew previously worked as part of Travel Trade Events run by Destination Representation, and now works as cabin crew.

The pair featured on Monday’s episode of the show in search of their first home together after they found love at 60.

Andrew and Michael, a semi-retired psychologist, revealed that they were selling their respective homes in Kent and Surrey, giving them a £1 million budget to find their escape to the country in East Sussex.

They were looking for a four-bedroom detached property with enough space to entertain guests that was only an hour’s drive from Gatwick Airport.

In the episode, host Nicki Chapman showed the couple around three properties, including a mid-19th-century cottage in Shortgate near Lewes, a 1960s chalet bungalow near Hellingly and a mid-20th-century property with coastal views in Rottingdean.

At the end of the episode, it was revealed that Andrew and Michael were planning to put an offer on the second property they viewed in Hellingly.

The couple envisaged building an extension and described the one acre of land as ‘manageable’.

It’s not known whether they purchased the property, but Travel Gossip wishes Andrew and Michael all the best on their escape to the country.
