US bookings are ‘holding steady’ under Trump, says travel trade body

Tour operators and travel agents selling holidays to the US saw only ‘minimal’ cancellations in the three months after President Trump returned to the White House, according to the trade body Visit USA (UK).

It said its Market Barometer, which reviewed booking trends among its tour operator and travel agent members, showed that 72% saw first quarter bookings and enquiries on a par with or higher than in the first three months of 2024.

Just over 87% said they had not seen an increase in cancellations or changes to forward bookings from January to March.

Visit USA (UK) CEO Kate Kenward said: “We were very pleased to see these encouraging survey results from quarter one of 2025, which confirm anecdotal comments from members that demand for and travel to the USA remains steady.

“Rising costs were listed as the strongest barrier to travel. Our surveyed members commented on the resilience of British travellers keen to visit a destination that offers a diversity of experiences, iconic cities, incredible landscapes, welcoming neighbourhoods, and a soundtrack and menu that are unmissable.”
