TUI to launch UK flights to Zanzibar

TUI will launch a direct service from London Gatwick to Zanzibar as part of its winter 2027 programme, becoming the first UK operator to offer non-stop flights to the archipelago.

The twice-weekly service will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays from 3 November 2027 until 22 March 2028.

TUI said demand for alternative long-haul winter sun destinations had driven the decision to add Zanzibar to its programme.

Bookings for the new route open on 2 July as part of TUI’s winter 2027 programme, which includes more than 50 destinations and 2,000 hotels.

The operator already has eight hotels on the island, including TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar and The Mora Zanzibar, as well as partner properties operated by RIU and JAZ.

Prices start from £2,085 per person for a seven-night all-inclusive stay at TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar, including flights and transfers. Packages at Zanzibar Bay Resort start from £1,615 per person.

Zanzibar is being positioned as an affordable alternative to Indian Ocean destinations such as the Maldives and Mauritius. TUI is also promoting Zanzibar as a twin-centre option with safari experiences in Tanzania.

TUI UK&I Commercial Director Chris Logan said: “We’re really excited to be launching our direct flights to Zanzibar, making it easier than ever for customers to swap winter in the UK for island paradise.

“With our established hotel portfolio already in place, we’re confident Zanzibar will be a standout addition to our winter 2027 programme, tapping into growing demand for long‑haul destinations that deliver both experience and value.

“By introducing flights from the UK, we’re opening up everything the island has to offer, from white‑sand beaches and rich culture to unforgettable excursions, all brought together in one seamless package.”
