TUI launches price match guarantee

TUI has introduced a Price-Match Promise, which it says will provide ‘extra reassurance’ to agents and customers.

Under the new guarantee, customers can request a price match if they find the same TUI package holiday available at a lower price with another operator within 72 hours of booking.

The promise applies to all package holiday bookings, including those via TUI retail stores and independent agents, as well as online.

Where the criteria are met, TUI will either discount the booking or refund the price difference if the final balance has already been paid.

The Price-Match Promise applies to a like-for-like package that is publicly available at a lower price with another holiday company. It must depart from the same airport, on the same date, on the same TUI flight and must include the same accommodation, board basis, room type, duration and passenger details. Transfers and at least the same baggage allowance are included.

The guarantee applies to TUI package holidays booked that include a TUI flight (TOM or BY flight numbers). Holidays booked with TUI that fly with third-party airlines are excluded, as are any Marella Cruises, Crystal Ski, TUI River Cruise bookings.

The price match also excludes quotes, prices or bookings available from trading names of TUI UK Ltd, including First Choice and holidayhypermarket.co.uk.

TUI said: “We know that value for money is front of mind for many customers right now, and this new promise is about ensuring customers can book with confidence, knowing they won’t miss out if the same TUI package is available for less elsewhere.”

The price match announcement comes after TUI said last week’s hot weather led to a spike in bookings for June departures and the school summer holidays.

It said sales for June are up 20% year-on-year, with the Balearics and Canaries seeing the strongest demand, with sales up 60% and 50% respectively.

Seven-night holiday are the most popular but four-night breaks have increased the most week on week, up 40%.

Its cruise line, Marella Cruises, also reported an uplift in sales during the heatwave, with bookings for ships departing Palma up more than 30% on the previous week.
