A TUI flight from Melbourne-Orlando International Airport in Florida to Birmingham was aborted late on Friday night following a mechanical issue.
A mechanical error caused the aircraft, which was carrying 350 passengers, to veer off a taxiway, with its right main landing gear stopping on soft ground.
There were no reports of injuries following the incident, with all passengers transported to the terminal before being taken to hotels.
Melbourne-Orlando Airport Director Greg Donovan said in a statement: “A B787–9 TUI aircraft departing for Birmingham, UK, aborted their takeoff on runway 9R due to an alarm in the cockpit.
“While exiting the runway at Taxiway C, the aircraft’s right main landing gear went into the grass.”
The aircraft was later inspected and recertified for flight.
Travel Gossip understands that all customers are now back in the UK, and the flying programme has not been impacted as a result of the incident.
