TUI has added a new route from Cardiff to Salzburg starting this December, more than 30 years after the last direct flight between the two cities.
Flights from Cardiff Airport went on sale today (Tuesday). TUI will operate a weekly Saturday flight from the airport as part of a Crystal Ski Holidays programme, starting on 20 December 2025, with the final seasonal return flight from Salzburg on 7 March 2026.
Cardiff Airport confirmed to Travel Gossip its last direct flight to Salzburg was 32 years ago for the winter season in 1993-94, on Britannia Airways for Thomson Ski.
Crystal Ski Holidays Head of Commercial Scott Britton said: “We are delighted to add a new TUI charter flight route from Cardiff to Salzburg into our Winter 2025-26 season programme, following the success of our newly introduced Chambery charter service from Cardiff which launched in September.”
The programme will feature 24 ski resorts, including popular destinations such as Zell am See, Mayrhofen, and Kitzbühel.
Crystal Ski Holidays is offering a seven-night trip from Cardiff to Kitzbühel staying at the Bio Hotel Bruggerhof on a B&B basis from £1,210 per person.
Meanwhile, airline schedule analyst Sean M posted on X to say that a seasonal East Midlands to Salzburg route, which began in December 2021, has been axed.
The route is no longer showing on TUI’s website, but the operator has not yet confirmed when it was cancelled.
