The Travel Network Group (TTNG) has acquired expert-led escorted tour operator TS Travel and travel media company Tripsmiths after the businesses entered administration.
Tripsmiths and TS Travel, which trades as TS Tours, will now operate under a new company name and business entity, Tripsmiths Travel.
Travel Trust Association, which is part of TTNG, was previously responsible for protecting all future bookings. It has confirmed that all existing bookings will be honoured, with all current and future tours and holidays ‘proceeding as planned’.
Tripsmiths and TS Travel was founded nine years ago by The Telegraph former Executive Head of Travel Charles Starmer-Smith. It sells curated group touring holidays through revenue-sharing relationships with media and membership partners, including The Telegraph and the US newspaper, The Wall Street Journal.
TS Tours currently has more than 50 departures planned across 2026 and 2027, with the majority featuring its signature expert-led tour format. These tours combine iconic sights, behind-the-scenes access and exclusive experiences, hosted by recognised specialists and personalities.
Charles, currently CEO, will continue to be involved in the business, said TTNG, which bought the business from administrators Andrew Pear and Michael Solomons of Moorfields after they were appointed on 14 May.
“Despite the growth of our agency and operator arm, TS Travel, the impact of COVID and the challenging trading conditions across the wider business, coupled with declining search traffic and circulation among our partners, resulted in the businesses entering administration,” said Charles.
“However, all holidays will proceed as planned and no customers will be affected, with all bookings continuing to be protected through the Travel Trust Association.”
