Travel Counsellors made £138 million of sales last month, an 11% year-on-year increase, making it both the best January on record and the biggest sales month in the company’s history.
Of this total, £75 million came from the premium leisure market, with sales up 19%.
Throughout the month, 15 of the company’s top 20 sales days of all time were recorded, including its highest single day of sales, on payday, 31 January, when it made £7.8m.
It said a ‘significant’ portion of its January sales came from bespoke TC packages, which accounted for over 5,000 bookings, and TC Journeys, one of the latest additions to the company’s tech platform.
Travel Counsellors said these sales had ‘reinforced its position as a leading tour operator’.
The most popular leisure destinations in January included the Mediterranean, US, Indian Ocean, southeast Asia and the Caribbean.
On the corporate travel side, bookings reached £23.3m, with the US, domestic and the Middle East ranked as the top destinations.
CEO Steve Byrne said: “We are delighted with the strong sales during peaks, which reflects the dedication, passion and hard work of every individual in our global community, who are all committed to achieving their personal best.”
More than 300 Travel Counsellors recorded their best-ever month in January, while 125 TCs achieved total sales of over £200,000.
