Travel Counsellors creates UK CEO role as part of group restructure

Travel Counsellors has made several senior appointments in a group restructure that includes Jim Eastwood moving to a brand-new role of UK CEO and promotions for Kirsten Hughes and Matt Harding.

Jim, who was previously Global Sales Director, will support continued growth of the UK’s corporate, and leisure businesses. Kirsten moves from UK Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer to the role of Group Chief Commercial Officer, working in a global role. Director of Franchise Sales Matt Harding becomes Franchise Managing Director.

The restructure follows Travel Counsellors’ acquisition of The Travel Agent Next Door (TTAND) in Canada. The company now supports more than 4,000 travel business owners worldwide, with operations across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, the UAE and North America.

Elsewhere in the business, Pedro Castro has been appointed Chief International and Growth Officer, Sam Dixon joins from his previous roles at Pets at Home and OC&C as Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, and Jon Bauer has been given an enhanced international remit as Chief Technology Officer.

Travel Counsellors Global CEO Steve Byrne said: “Travel Counsellors continues to grow from a position of strength both in the UK and internationally, and as we build on this momentum, it’s essential that we provide clear leadership, strong alignment and a dedicated market focus.

“This evolution builds on the depth of expertise already within our leadership team and strengthens our ability to combine innovative technology, collective commercial strength and genuine human connection. As we scale, our priority remains the same – staying close to our Travel Counsellors and ensuring they feel supported, confident and empowered to grow their businesses.”

In North America, Flemming Friisdahl continues as CEO, leading the Canadian business following the acquisition of TTAND and working closely with the Group leadership team to drive regional growth.

Additional leadership appointments will be made in the coming months.
