Tourists urged to carry passports at all times in Bali

A crackdown on visa violations in Bali means that spot checks are being carried out on tourists, so visitors are being reminded they must always have their passports with them.

An Immigration Patrol Task Force of 100 uniformed officers was deployed in Bali earlier this month to address immigration violations.

The officers are reportedly patrolling 10 hotspots in Bali, including Canggu, Seminyak and Jimbaran.

Indonesian Minister of Immigration and Correction Agus Andriant said: “The formation of the Immigration Patrol Task Force is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to ensure stability and security in Bali as one of Indonesia’s top tourist destinations.”

To enter Indonesia, Brits must have at least six months remaining on their passport after their arrival date, two blank pages and an expiry date. A 30-day visa on arrival must also be obtained, which can be extended once for another 30 days.
