Well-known brand Teletext Holidays has relaunched, as on online travel agent selling ‘affordable holidays’ and ‘great-value breaks’.
Teletext Holidays said the brand has been revived by new owners and is not affiliated with the Teletext that closed four years ago after parent Truly Travel went into liquidation. However it has retained some of the ‘classic Teletext nostalgia’.
Companies House files show there are four directors of the revived brand: Martin Warner, who lives in Spain; Stephen Limbrick, in Australia; Flora Souidhou in the UK; and majority shareholder Chandana Amaradasa Seekku Arachchi, in Sri Lanka. He is Managing Director of Sri Lanka-based inbound operator Island Leisure Lanka and import-export company Island Lanka Trading. He is also a former Senior Manager at Sri Lanka’s Taj Hotels.
Teletext Holidays said it has retained ‘several experienced team members from the previous company’, including Flora, who was previously Truly Travel Head of Customer Experience.
Its website says: “At Teletext Holidays we have been providing Brits with great value holidays for decades, through both TV and computer screens!
“Now in 2025, we are pleased to announce that Teletext Holidays is under the new ownership and management of Teletext Travel Ltd, trading as teletextholidays.co.uk. We have acquired the necessary intellectual property (IP) from the liquidators of Teletext Ltd, ensuring that the legacy of Teletext Holidays continues with us.
“As an independent entity, we want to clarify that we have no affiliations with the previously known Teletext Ltd or Truly Travel Ltd, both of which have since been placed into liquidation. We’ve given the website a brand-new look and feel and also maintained a touch of classic Teletext nostalgia too.
“We are the home of affordable holidays, selling great-value breaks to favourites such as Spain, Turkey, the Canaries and everywhere in between!”
In a statement, Teletext Holidays said: “Over the past 18 months, the team has worked diligently to rebuild and strengthen internal operations, revamp the customer experience, and launch a fully redesigned website aimed at delivering greater value and convenience.
It said: “We’re thrilled to take the reins of such an iconic heritage brand.
“With fresh vision our goal is to build on the strong foundation that’s already in place while introducing new ideas that enhance the customer experience. Customers can expect some exciting new offerings on the horizon.
“This is more than a relaunch — it’s a revival of a much-loved brand. We’ve spent the last year and a half making sure every part of the business is stronger, smarter, and more focused on delivering amazing value for travellers.”
Teletext has partnered with eSIM provider Airalo for a ‘Summer of Giveaways’ campaign, in which customers can get free Airmoney to redeem for mobile data.
Head of Partnerships Ricky Durrance said: “We are incredibly excited to kick off our first full summer season since relaunching the brand under new ownership, and our partnership with Airalo plays a pivotal role in our Summer of Giveaways campaign.
“As we continue to re-establish Teletext Holidays as the home of affordable beach holidays, this collaboration strengthens our commitment to delivering unbeatable value for our customers. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a memorable summer.”
Teletext became popular in the 1980s, selling discounted holidays on TV. It was later bought by Truly Travel, but stopped taking bookings in late 2021, after the Travel Trust Association terminated Truly Travel’s membership and the CAA announced it no longer held an ATOL. Truly Travel brought in the liquidators in November 2021.
The Teletext Holidays website says it offers a price-match promise and operates a secure trust account. Teletext Holidays declined to give any more details of previous team members who have been retained by the new company.
