Two of the six beaches that were closed to swimmers after tests showed high levels of E.coli have now reopened.
The beaches were closed to bathers following heavy storms on Saturday (15 August), which caused overflows from drainage and sewage systems.
Swimmers have been allowed back at Campo de Golf-San Julián and El Palo (pictured) beaches, although Guadalmar, La Misericordia, Sacaba and San Andres remain closed.
The results of the latest tests showed a decrease in E.coli at all locations, although levels are higher than the legal limit at the other four beaches. More samples will be taken over the next few days.
Meanwhile, a magnitude 4.8 earthquake close to Granada left at least three people injured on Tuesday morning. It is the second earthquake to hit the region in less than a week.
The nearby Alhambra palace was evacuated as a precaution.
