Storm Bram causes flight cancellations across the UK

Travellers are facing flight cancellations and disruption due to Storm Bram bringing heavy winds and rain across the country.

The Met Office has issued amber warnings for wind in north-west Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland and amber warnings for rain in south Wales and south-west England. There are also yellow warnings of wind and rain in place for other areas, including Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the north of England.

Due to the adverse weather in other parts of the country, British Airways has cancelled flights from Heathrow to Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dublin and Manchester this morning.

Dublin Airport has also cancelled flights. In an update on X, the airport said that, as of 7.45am on Tuesday, 42 flights had been cancelled – 21 inbound and 21 outbound. It warned that further cancellations were possible later in the day as wind speeds were expected to increase.

The cancellations included Aer Lingus flights to Southampton, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Manchester.

Belfast City has issued a warning to passengers of disruption and has cancelled several departures throughout the day including Aer Lingus flights to Cardiff, Birmingham and Leeds Bradford. Arrivals from Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Birmingham, Southampton and Cardiff have also been cancelled.

Regional carrier Loganair is offering travellers booked today and tomorrow (Wednesday) the opportunity to adjust travel plans for free.
