Silversea Cruises and travel industry colleagues have paid tribute to Regional Sales Manager Julie Nunes, who has died.
Julie had been RSM for the cruise line since 2014. Before that, she worked at Hays Travel, firstly as Area Sales Manager, from 2007 to 2009, and again as Business Development Manager, between January 2010 and March 2014. Between those roles she spent four months as Sales Executive for Emirates.
Silversea said: “It is with great sadness that we, the team at Silversea, extend our heartfelt condolences following the passing of our dear colleague and friend Julie Nunes. Her loss is deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
“Julie truly embodied the spirit of Silversea. Her passion, enthusiasm, and dedication inspired us. She exemplified the very essence of our brand – always going above and beyond to share her love of travel and cruising.
“Julie’s vibrant energy will be missed. She was not only a valued colleague but also a dear friend to many of us within the Silversea family. Her legacy of passion and enthusiasm will continue to inspire us every day.
“We send our deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones. Julie, we will miss you.”
Colleagues from across the trade have also paid tribute to Julie.
Stella Wilson, who works for Lincolnshire Co-Op as a Cruise Specialist, said: “I’ve known Julie over many years in the trade. She was a beautiful person inside and out. So passionate about her work and she was always the face of Silversea for us. Julie will be very much missed and my thoughts are with her family and her colleagues.”
Peelers Travel Agency Manager Colin Lancaster added: “Julie came to see me last year and it was the first time we’d seen each other since we worked together at Lunn Poly many years ago. She was still the lively, bubbly, funny lady I remember from then and hadn’t changed a bit. Although we hadn’t kept in touch, this has knocked me sideways. Condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.”
Janet Green, who worked in the industry for 45 years, said: “Julie was a shining light in the world of travel. I had the pleasure of working with Julie at Hays Travel, as well as meeting up on several occasions at travel events. You will be sadly missed beautiful lady.”
Travelsphere and Just You Key Account Manager for Scotland and the North Jason Kemp said: “The travel industry has lost a very special lady and a true legend – Julie will be sorely missed by us all.”
Travel Counsellor Lisa Byers remembered: “How sad. I knew Julie from a fam trip and she was exactly that ‘vibrant energy’.
Cruise.co.uk Head of Packages Amy Ginder said: “It is so sad, she really was a beautiful lady. Her personality shone, it was a pleasure knowing you, Julie.”
Select World Travel Owner and Managing Director Hannah Vincent added: “I will always remember her. Always professional, fun and always smiling.”
