SHG increases focus on sales through homeworkers with more face-to-face meetings

Specialist Holidays Group (SHG) has increased its face-to-face meetings with homeworkers across the UK with the launch of ‘Homeworker Huddles’ in 12 cities and towns so far.

The trade team has been on the road meeting with more than 60 homeworking agents in Belfast, London, Jersey, and Aberdeen, as well as regional hubs including Coventry, Bristol, Chelmsford, Kendal, Bournemouth, York and Truro.

The team has combined its ‘Homeworker Huddles’ with local retail agent visits. Head Of Trade Partnerships Jorge Quibell said that, while retail remains absolutely core to our business, our homeworker strategy is about growth, not replacement’.

“By combining huddles with local store visits, we’re making sure every agent – whether home-based or retail – feels supported and connected,” he added.

“Some of these homeworkers that we have met at the ‘Homeworker Huddles’ are new to SHG and some have done bookings with just one brand, it’s a broad mix.”

“This week, we are hosting homeworkers In Kendal and also visiting retail agents in Kendal, Lancaster, Morcombe, Workington, Cockermouth.”

Last month, Jorge told Travel Gossip that since November, bookings from homeworkers have increased by 42%.

SHG also said revenue is also up 83%, and passenger numbers are up 52%. The group claimed that its share of homeworker business has also grown, with targets to reach around 20% of overall sales.

Trade Partnerships Manager Kim Sellman said: “Homeworkers value face‑to‑face time, so we’re taking SHG to them. We’ve spent time up and down the country and have deliberately chosen accessible locations to encourage homeworking agents to see us. The locations are often in smaller towns and cities, with free parking along with a cuppa and a chat. The response has been incredibly positive. We’ve called these events Homeworker Huddles.

“To date, more than 60 homeworkers have taken part. This is the first wave of events, and we combine a mix of product training, business support, and peer‑to‑peer learning through SHG’s this new format” she ended.

SHG said it will continue to expand its homeworker engagement programme throughout the year, with further huddles and regional visits planned. The company recently launched a dedicated agent hub for offers, deals, brand assets, training, and agency incentives.

The SHG portfolio includes American Holidays, Citalia, and Sovereign Luxury Travel.
