Second arrest made in connection with death on MSC Virtuosa

Police have arrested a second person in relation to the death of a passenger on MSC Virtuosa earlier this month.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said a 56-year-old man from Richmond, London, had been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

A 57-year-old man from Exeter, Devon, who was arrested on suspicion of murder on 5 May was released on bail last week.

The arrests follow the death of a passenger in an ‘altercation’ shortly after the ship left Southampton on the evening of Saturday 3 May, on a two-night sailing to Zeebrugge.

The 60-year-old victim has since been named as James Messham, from West Sussex.
